Itinerary
We will meet at the airport at 3pm for our KM Malta Airlines flight departing at 5.20pm and arriving in Prague airport at 7.50pm. We shall be transferred to our 4-star EA Hotel Downtown (or similar) in central Prague.
After breakfast, we will be transferred to Prague city centre where we will start the half-day walking city tour of beautiful Prague. We will see interesting places such as the impressive castle and the Cathedral of St. Vitus, and walk along Charles Bridge, famous for its 30 statues. The afternoon will be free for personal sightseeing. One can stroll around the Old Time Square and Wenceslas Square or take a boat trip on the Vltava River (extra).
Today’s optional excursion takes us to visit Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic’s most famous spa destination. Karlovy Vary saw 200 spa houses sprout by the 1500s. The springs in the peaceful Tepla Valley are said to cure metabolic and gastric issues. Five beautiful Colonnades straddle hot springs where the mineral rich water is drinkable.
Today our optional excursion takes us to Dresden in Germany, where notable art treasures, architectural sights and charming landscapes merge to form a truly fascinating city. We will see the main attractions, such as the Semper Opera House and the Frauenkirche Lutheran Church, amongst others. Afterwards, we will have free time for shopping and personal sightseeing.
After breakfast, we will head to the south of Bohemia for our optional excursion, visiting Cesky Krumlov, the most attractive historical town of the region. On our way to this town, we pass through lovely scenery and villages. In Cesky Krumlov, we’ll visit the historic centre where we’ll have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the beautiful Christmas atmosphere that this place has to offer.
Today, we will go on an optional half-day excursion to Kutna Hora. It is one of the 12 places in the Czech Republic on the UNESCO world heritage list, known mostly for its remarkable ‘bone church’ (entrance extra), a cemetery chapel decorated with bones of up to 40,000 people. The historic centre of Kutna Hora is one of the country’s prettiest and the gothic cathedral of St. Barbara (entrance extra) is the country’s most spectacular. Late in the afternoon, we will return to Prague and have a free evening. One may opt to head to the Wenceslas Square to enjoy the NYE official celebrations, or else walk to the river and enjoy the midnight fireworks from there.
Today we will visit Janske Lazne for our optional excursion, a small spa city in the Krkonose mountains. We will visit the Krkonose TreeTop Trail (extra), with a height of 45 metres which will take us above the treetops of the giant trees which surround it. One can also visit the learning centre, located under the massive wooden tower, where the geological makeup of the local mountains and local trees is explained. From Krkonose, we will take a cable car (extra) to go up to Cerna Hora (1299m from sea level), from where we can enjoy the view. We will have free time to take in the magnificent views of the mountains covered in snow.
Today we check-out of the hotel and have a free day for personal sightseeing and shopping. One may stroll around the medieval streets bursting with all kinds of shops, or stop at leisure in one of the several pretty squares for a local snack and a glass of Czech beer. Late in the afternoon, we will be transferred to Prague airport for our return KM Malta Airlines flight departing at 8.40pm and arriving in Malta at 11.10pm.
