Lakes and Mountains - Austrian Tyrol

Monday 
We meet our tour leader at 2.35 a.m. for our Air Malta flight departing to Innsbruck at 4.35 a.m. and arriving at 6.30 a.m. On arrival, we are transferred to our hotel in Pfunds. This village situated in the ever popular and scenic Austrian Tyrol is charming and quiet. It is set where the Austrian, Swiss and Italian borders meet. We check in and have breakfast. Afterwards, we go on a familiarisation walk with the group leader. Early afternoon we go on an optional half day excursion to nearby Samnaun in Switzerland, a famous skiing and duty free village. We have some free time to enjoy ourselves in the beautiful surroundings before we return to our hotel for dinner. 


Tuesday 
Breakfast followed by a full day optional excursion to Kaunertal and Landeck. At Kaunertal the breathtaking natural beauty of the high Alps is revealed in all its glory and you will be filled with awe and wonder at the magnificence of the Alpine landscape. Early afternoon we proceed to Landeck where we have the possibility to do some shopping. Return to Pfunds and later we have dinner.


Wednesday 
After breakfast we travel to Italy for an optional full day excursion to Merano in the Dolomites region. Our coach will take us to Merano, which was the old capital of the Tyrolean region, past many castles and wonderful scenery to spend the day in this Italian medieval town, centred around Gothic Via dei Portici. On our way we make a short stop in Gauron on the Reschen Pass. We return to our hotel to have dinner and later go to nearby Nauders and entertain ourselves to an optional Tyrolean night (extra).


Thursday  
This morning after breakfast we take an optional full day excursion to the Olympic city of Innsbruck, capital of Tyrol. Our excursion will first take us to the world famous Swarovski Crystal World, where we can enjoy a dazzling tour of this fantastic place (entrance fee extra). We later proceed to visit the old medieval town of Innsbruck. A city tour will take us round the narrow streets and pavement cafes. We will see the Golden Roof, the Hofburg Palace and Maria Theresien Strasse, a sightseeing paradise. We return to our hotel late afternoon for dinner.


Friday 
Immediately after breakfast we go on another full day optional excursion to Livigno, the famous ski resort in the Alps. We have time to explore whilst enjoying this exceptional village and its exquisite landscape. Livigno is one of the largest and highest ski areas in the region and a duty free resort. There is a wide choice of cheap bars, cafés and restaurants as well as a considerable number of shops. On our return to the hotel we make an interesting stop in the Latteria di Livigno where we will have the opportunity in tasting the genuine dairy products (entrance extra). Dinner will be served later in the evening.
Saturday
As soon as breakfast is over, we go on an optional full day excursion to Seefeld and Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany. In Seefeld we have time for shopping and coffee. We proceed to Garmisch, with its typical houses adorned with beautiful murals. Our next stop takes us to Lake Eibsee at the foot of Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze. We return to Pfunds late afternoon and have dinner in the hotel. 


Sunday
Ample time for breakfast and after we join the leader for a walk around this village. This walk will take us past shops and gaily flowered houses, dwarfed by pine clad mountains rising steeply into an unspoilt countryside - a beautiful setting for a relaxing holiday. We have time to hear Mass. In the afternoon we take an optional half day excursion to visit the nearby picturesque villages of Ladis, Fiss and Serfaus. Our first stop will be in Serfaus. Here we have time to go on the mountain by using a cable car (extra). Later our coach will take us to Ladis, passing through Fiss. We stop in Ladis and walk around Lake Landerer and take a look at Laudegg Castle. Our last stop will be a visit to the old Roman road Via Claudia and after proceed to our hotel and enjoy our dinner.


Monday 
We have an early departure to Innsbruck airport for our direct Air Malta flight departing at 7.15 a.m. and arriving at 9.05 a.m.
