We will meet our tour leader at 4.35pm for our direct Air Malta flight to Ljubljana departing at 6.35pm. On arrival at 8.20pm, we will proceed to our 3 star central City Hotel in Ljubljana and check in.

We shall start our tour with an optional half-day guided city tour of Ljubljana. One can notice the baroque influence in the old part of town, with narrow cobbled streets nestled between the castle slopes and the river Ljubljanica. Particular highlights of the old town include the Cathedral of St Nikolai, City Hall, the three bridges and the open market. After the guided tour, we will take a boat ride (included – weather permitting) on the River Ljubljanica to admire the city from a different point of view. The rest of the day will be free.

Today we will go for a relaxing full-day optional excursion to Bled, known as the “Pearl of the Slovenian Alpine region”, due to its emerald-green lake and the church on the small island in the middle of the lake. We shall visit Bled Castle (extra) up on the hill above the lake. We will then proceed to Bohinj, the largest glacier lake in Slovenia, situated within the Julian Alps. We will take a cable car (extra) up to Mount Vogel where we can admire the magnificent view from the summit. Afterwards, we will have enough time to relax at the side of the peaceful Bohinj Lake and take in the natural beauty all around us.

Today’s optional full-day excursion will take us towards the Adriatic Coast. We will first drive towards the oldest coastal town in Slovenia, Piran, where we can admire its charming Venetian architecture whilst enjoying a walking tour. Piran is renowned for the delicious fish dishes and one can enjoy lunch (extra) in one of the various restaurants. We will later proceed to Koper (known as Capodistria for the Italians), famous for its intertwining streets, squares, remnants of an ancient city wall and the largest Cathedral in Slovenia. We will have plenty of free time before we make our way back to Ljubljana.

Today, our optional full-day excursion will take us to visit Maribor and Ptuj. Maribor is the second largest town in Slovenia with a totally different character from Ljubljana and the western parts of the country. We will have some free time to enjoy Maribor before we proceed to visit the oldest town in Slovenia, Ptuj, which is located just a short drive away. We will explore its beauty through a walking tour around the town, after which we shall visit Ptuj Castle (extra), the Provost church and the old City Hall.

Today we will spend a relaxing optional full-day excursion at the famous Slovenian skiing resort of Kranjska Gora. Set near the Austrian and Italian borders, this winter and summer tourist resort touches Triglav National Park to the south. The picturesque village is noteworthy for the fact that it retained its identity over the years. The day spent here is a fun day, with loads to do like sledging (fun activities are extra) or just enjoying the beautiful scenery around.

Today, our optional full-day excursion will take us to Krvavec Skiing Resort. We will take a cable car (extra) up the mountain and enjoy some stupendous views. Up on the mountain, there are various activities that can be enjoyed, such as archery, mountain go-karting descent, the tube descent and many more. We will have some time to enjoy ourselves here before we return to Ljubljana and enjoy the rest of the afternoon in Ljubljana Zoo (entrance extra).

On our last day we shall go on a fascinating optional excursion to Postojna and Predjama. Postojna caves (entrance extra) are amongst the largest in the world. There are 22 kilometres of amazing stalagmite and stalactite structures. This underground world was naturally created by river Pivka. An electric train will take us into the caves and then a tour guide will walk us through the most dramatic parts of the caves. We will also visit Predjama Castle (entrance extra), a unique structure in Gothic style built right in the mountains under a natural rocky arch high in the stone wall making access to this castle very difficult in the olden times. We will return to our hotel and check out of our rooms by noon. We will later make our way to Ljubljana airport for our Air Malta flight departing at 9.15pm and arriving in Malta at 11.10pm.
